ABOUT US

Founded in 2017, PolyPoly Eco Initiative is a student-led project in Shrewsbury School aimed towards promoting proper sorting of household waste in Shrewsbury International Schools and partnering schools.

We focus on creating incentives for waste sorting, especially plastic waste with its 7 subcategories, to improve the way the Shrewsbury community can assist industrial-scale plastic recycling and household-scale upcycling, acting as a distributor from Shrewsbury to charity partners such as Wat Jak Daeng and Precious Plastic Bangkok.

Part of our project is to also experiment with plastic to upcycle donated waste into functional products to demonstrate why plastic waste sorting matters. Without differentiation in types of waste disposed, it is difficult for us or factories to efficiently separate all the plastic waste by types and colours in order to maximise the quality of recycled materials. Demonstrating where their efforts to sort waste amounts to by creating functional products, the Shrewsbury community is committed and motivated to advocate for better proposals of plastic waste.
